I’ve been rollin’ right on down that steep decline

And I’ve been trying to understand all the reasons why

And I wonder if you’ll ever again reach for me

Or is our special love just a memory

It’s been many years since you held me like you used to do

And to think I’ve lost your precious heart makes me blue

I remember when my love for you set ya free

Now you almost treat me like I’m just a memory

Through the evergreens together hand in hand

You would pull me close and tell me I’m your man

I could look into your eyes my soul was true

And now it seems as if I’m just your stupid fool

There’s a light that shines within that slow burning flame

And I’m hoping somewhere deep inside you feel the same

I’m still holding on to how we used to be

Is the tender love we shared just a memory

Is that sacred love we once had just a memory
